Police in Mwingi on Tuesday shot in the air to disperse angry residents whom had turned against Jubilee Party members on a campaign trail.
The group, which carried Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka's posters, hurled stones at the motorcade smashing windows of several cars.
No Ukambani leader was in the caravan at the time of the confrontation between the Jubilee team and the NASA supporters near a petrol station in Mwingi.
The angry residents expressed their disappointment with some of the Kitui county leaders who visited State House on Monday.
The lot, which was led by former Kitui Senator David Musila, pledged to back President Uhuru Kenyatta for reelection on October 17.
"We cannot allow these people to underrate us together with our leader Kalonzo Musyoka. We are firmly and solidly behind NASA," one of the protesters said.
"We will support the coalition to the very end. They have known this is a Wiper zone and we have had enough from Jubilee despite using their baits to hook us".
Some Jubilee supporters harassed journalists asking them to delete the pictures and videos of the incident.
