After the successful completion of high school education, one of the most important questions that linger at the back of the mind of young people is which college do I enroll in? Finding an accredited institution to enroll in is an enormous challenge. One of the institutions that you may want to join to further your education is the Meru National Polytechnic. The institution offers various courses that you can pursue to gain employment-ready skills.
Meru National Polytechnic is one the best of the many technical training institutions in the country. It was established in the year 1956 by the Meru County government with the objective of training the youth to gain various practical skills. The institution was upgraded from a polytechnic to a technical training institute in the year 2016. The polytechnic is determined to be an international centre of excellence when it comes to the provision of (Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Meru National Polytechnic offers various higher diploma, diploma, certificate, and artisan courses that you can choose from. Here is a list of the courses in each department that you can enroll in.

Meru National Polytechnic offers so many other part-time courses that you can enroll in. The courses are offered during weekdays after 4 P.M and during weekends. The following are some of the part-time courses that you can enroll in.

Overall, you need a minimum of KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) and above to enroll in the diploma courses. For the certificate courses, you need a minimum of KCSE mean grade D plain and above. For the electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering courses, the minimum requirements are a KCSE mean grade C- and above with a minimum of D+ (plus) in maths and physics. For the certificate courses, you need a minimum of KCSE mean grade D+ with a minimum of D plain in physics or mathematics.
To enroll in the polytechnic, you will be required to submit your application via the Kenya University and College Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). The KUCCPS is a corporate body established by the Kenyan government to coordinate the placement of students to colleges and universities. Students wishing to enroll in the polytechnic can visit the KUCCPS portal and select the course that they wish to pursue. If the placement is successful, you will be required to fill in the admission form that is available on the website of the polytechnic.
You will be glad to know that you can apply for any of the above courses on the website of the polytechnic. All that you need to do is to scan your result slip of certificate. You will be required to follow a link provided on the website to complete the application process. The application process is completed when you submit the form.
The fee varies depending on the course or program. You need to contact the admissions office to get more details on the fee structure. The institution does not accept cash payments. Students have the option of paying their fees using money orders, bankers cheque, or a direct deposit to one of the bank accounts of the polytechnic.

The institution offers accommodation to students. It has a total of 10 hostels; 5 for men and 5 for the ladies. Students are at liberty to choose the kind of room that they want to stay in. These rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis. You are required to pay an accommodation fee of Ksh. 3000 per term. This amount should be deposited in the bank account of the polytechnic before you confirm the availability of the rooms. The accommodation fee does not cater for meals. Payment for the meals offered by the institution is on a pay as you eat basis.
