The Naivasha subcounty security committee has petitioned the National Land Commission to cancel a title deed issued to a private developer who grabbed property meant for police houses.
A section of the land opposite the Naivasha law courts has been used by litigants to park their vehicles as police officers waited for the construction of the houses.
There was drama on the disputed parcel after a group of youths stormed the site demanding that the ongoing works stop.
Speaking on the phone, subcounty commissioner Isaac Masinde said he was shocked about how the developer obtained the legal documents.
He said the land is public and plans are underway to use it for police houses and a parking lot for court users.
We are calling on the NLC to move with speed and cancel this title deed, Masinde said.
He said he will raise the issue with other government departments, adding some officers helped the developer get the title deed. The developer even has a court order barring the police from interfering, he said.
